Increased safety and comfort: Additional assistance systems on board

Rüsselsheim. Ultra-modern, Euro 6 compliant diesel engines, additional assistance systems for even more safety and further optional fittings – these are the most important features of the model year 2016 Opel light commercial vehicles. Thereby Opel Vivaro, Movano and Combo are well prepared for the diverse challenges they deal with. “The new, ultra-modern diesel engines further increase the efficiency of our light commercial vehicles. This and the extended equipment options make Vivaro, Movano and Combo even more attractive for our customers,” said Steffen Raschig, Opel/Vauxhall Director Commercial Vehicles.

Vivaro Combi with new engine and extended options

The second generation of the Opel Vivaro, the brand’s LCV bestseller with around 50,000 units produced every year, was launched in the fall of 2014. As of model year 2016, the Vivaro Combi will be available with new turbo diesels. The 70 kW/95 hp 1.6 CDTI with torque of 260 Nm is the entry-level engine. The combined consumption of 6.2 liters or 164 grams of CO2 per kilometer is at the same level as it was for the predecessor that had 5 hp less. The new 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI will be available with 92 kW/125 hp and 107 kW/145 hp – also an increase of 5 hp compared to the predecessor. The engines produce torque of 320 and 340 Nm respectively – enough power for demanding tasks. Elsewhere, consumption remains moderate: the 125 hp version only need 5.7 liters of diesel, which is equivalent to 149 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The more powerful version needs 6.4 liters or 167 grams of CO2 per kilometer. All three engines come with Start/Stop and manual six-speed gearbox and thanks to Opel’s BlueInjection SCR system, they all comply with the Euro 6 emission standard.

The Vivaro is also available with new features such as “Keyless Open and Start” for even more comfort, a tablet holder or the improved IntelliLink infotainment system Navi 50. The elegance of the interior is further boosted by anthracite-colored upholstery “Connect Black”.

Driver assistance systems and Euro 6 engine for the Movano

The Movano Combi and Movano Bus are also available with new 2.3-liter BiTurbo diesel engines in two output levels. Thanks to Opel’s BlueInjection exhaust after-treatment system, these engines comply with the strict Euro 6 emission standards.

The most powerful engine in the Movano Combi now delivers 125 kW/170 hp and 380 Nm of torque. This is an increase of 20 Nm and 7 hp compared to the previous Movano Combi. At the same time, consumption is reduced by 0.1l/100km. An additional new 145 hp 2.3-liter BiTurbo for the Movano Combi also delivers torque of 360 Nm while cutting down on consumption, now averaging 6.3l/100km.

Opel has also made two highly efficient BiTurbo engines available for the Movano Bus. A 163 hp 2.3-liter BiTurbo will replace the current top-of-the-range 150 hp engine in the Movano Bus. The new unit will deliver torque of 380 Nm – an increase of 9 percent. Furthermore, a 107 kW/145 hp BiTurbo with torque of 360 Nm will be available for model year 2016.

All new engines come with Start/Stop along with an additional selectable ECO mode and are combined with a manual six-speed transmission. The driver assistance package now available for the Movano offers comfort and more safety. High Beam Assist, fog lights, Lane Keep Assist and an on-board computer make driving more pleasant and relaxing.

New diesel for Combo with improved performance and reduced consumption

Improved performance combined with less consumption and increased eco-friendliness are also key for the new engines in the Opel Combo Tour. Euro 6 compliant 1.6-liter CDTI turbo diesels with 70 kW/95 hp and 88 kW/120 hp will replace the outgoing 66 kW/90 hp and 77 kW/105 hp units. Both output levels are optionally available with or without ecoFLEX technology including Start/Stop. The engineers achieved an output increase of 5 hp and improved fuel consumption for the 95 hp ecoFLEX variant, with average fuel consumption being reduced from 5.0 to 4.7 liters of diesel which is equivalent to 124 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The output of the more powerful engine was increased by no less than 15 hp. Fuel consumption was reduced from 5.2 to 4.7 liters and CO2 emissions from 138 grams per kilometer to 124 grams per kilometer for the ecoFLEX version. Apart from the Start/Stop system, the ecoFLEX technology for the new engines includes a new intelligent alternator with braking energy recuperation, a variable oil pump, low friction oil, low-rolling-resistance tires and an aerodynamics package – all of which help reduce emissions.
